"Everything about this club was special": Gosens still mourns swift Berlin exit
Ex-Hertha star Robin Gosens has revealed that he still feels the pain of his sudden departure from the club in January 2022.
The 28-year-old Germany international joined Inter Milan for a reported fee of €25 million, but he has admitted that he still misses his time in the German capital.
"I loved everything about Hertha Berlin," Gosens told Sky Sport Germany. "The fans, the city, the club. It was a special time for me and I will never forget it."
Gosens was a key player for Hertha during his three-and-a-half seasons at the club, making over 100 appearances and scoring 17 goals.
"I gave everything for Hertha and I always felt the love from the fans," he said. "It was a difficult decision to leave, but I felt it was the right time for me to move on."
Despite his success at Inter, where he has won the Serie A title and the Coppa Italia, Gosens admits that he still thinks about Hertha.
"I follow Hertha's results closely and I always wish them well," he said. "I hope to one day return to the club and help them achieve success."
Gosens' departure from Hertha was a blow to the club, but it also paved the way for the emergence of young defender Marton Dardai.
"Marton is a great player and I am confident that he will have a long and successful career at Hertha," Gosens said. "I wish him all the best."
Hertha are currently 16th in the Bundesliga, just one point above the relegation play-off spot.
