Altaussse Awaits UNESCO World Heritage Status
Styrian town ready to welcome coveted recognition
Cultural Committee to consider nomination on July 25th
Altaussse, a picturesque town located in the heart of Austria’s Styria region, is eagerly anticipating a decision from the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) on its bid to become a World Heritage Site.
The town’s nomination, which was submitted in January 2023, will be considered by the World Heritage Committee during its 45th session, scheduled to take place in Kazan, Russia, from July 19th to 25th.
Should Altaussee’s nomination be successful, it would join a prestigious list of cultural and natural landmarks worldwide, including the Great Wall of China, the Taj Mahal, and the Grand Canyon.
