Chelsea player offered to Champions League club but move didn’t come to fruition
Chelsea striker Armando Broja was offered to a Champions League club in the January transfer window, but the move did not come to fruition.
According to Fabrizio Romano, the club in question was Borussia Dortmund, who are currently second in the Bundesliga and are set to face Chelsea in the Champions League round of 16.
It is understood that Chelsea were willing to let Broja leave on loan for the remainder of the season, but Dortmund were not interested in a loan deal and only wanted to sign the player permanently.
Broja has made just four Premier League starts for Chelsea this season and has been linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge in search of regular playing time.
The 21-year-old has scored six goals in all competitions for Chelsea this season, including two in the Champions League.
It remains to be seen whether Broja will leave Chelsea in the summer, but it is clear that he is not in Thomas Tuchel's plans at the moment.
With Romelu Lukaku set to return to Chelsea from his loan spell at Inter Milan, Broja could find himself even further down the pecking order next season.
A move to Dortmund could have been a good option for Broja, as he would have been able to play in the Champions League and get regular playing time.
However, it is understandable that Chelsea would not want to sell Broja permanently, as he is still a young player with a lot of potential.
