Djokovic skips Paris Masters
Djokovic withdraws from Paris Masters due to fatigue
Novak Djokovic has withdrawn from the Paris Masters due to fatigue.
The 35-year-old Serb was scheduled to play his first match at the tournament on Wednesday, but he pulled out on Tuesday, citing fatigue as the reason.
"I'm really disappointed to have to withdraw from the Paris Masters," Djokovic said in a statement. "I've been feeling a bit fatigued lately, and I don't want to risk making it worse by playing in Paris."
"I'm going to take some time off to rest and recover, and I hope to be back on the court soon."
Djokovic's withdrawal is a blow to the Paris Masters, which is one of the most prestigious tournaments on the ATP Tour.
The Serb has won the tournament six times, including last year, and he was the top seed this year.
In Djokovic's absence, the top seed will be Carlos Alcaraz of Spain, who is the world No. 1.
Alcaraz will be looking to win his first Paris Masters title, and he will be the favorite to do so.
Other contenders for the title include Rafael Nadal of Spain, Daniil Medvedev of Russia, and Stefanos Tsitsipas of Greece.
The Paris Masters is the final Masters 1000 tournament of the season, and it is one of the most important events on the ATP Tour.
The tournament is played on indoor hard courts, and it is one of the most prestigious events on the calendar.
Djokovic's withdrawal is a major disappointment, but the tournament will still feature some of the best players in the world.
