Evan Mobley Among Early Favorites for NBA Rookie of the Year
The No. 3 overall pick has impressed in Summer League and preseason
Barnett was named MVP of the Las Vegas Summer League after averaging 18.7 points, 10.3 rebounds, and 3.0 blocks per game. He followed that up with a strong preseason, averaging 12.0 points, 8.3 rebounds, and 2.3 blocks per game.
Barnett's play has earned him plenty of praise from analysts and scouts alike. ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski called him "the most impressive rookie I've seen in Summer League in a long time." The Athletic's Sam Vecenie said Barnett "has the potential to be a special player."
Barnett's success is due in part to his unique skill set. He is a 6-foot-10 forward with a 7-foot-3 wingspan. He is an excellent athlete with great leaping ability and quickness. He is also a skilled shooter with a smooth stroke.
Barnett's defense is also a major part of his game. He is a good shot-blocker and rebounder. He is also a smart defender who knows how to position himself well.
Barnett is still a rookie, and he has a lot to learn. But he has shown that he has the potential to be a star. If he continues to develop, he could be one of the best players in the NBA.
