Ex-Internationals mourn the death of a 35-year-old former national player
Former HSV professional also mourns
Sad news shocked the football world on Tuesday
Former German national player Andreas Biermann has died at the age of only 35. This was confirmed by his former club Hannover 96 on Tuesday. The cause of death is still unknown.
Biermann played a total of six international matches for Germany between 2006 and 2008. He was part of the squad at the 2006 World Cup in Germany, but he did not play in any of the games.
At club level, Biermann played for Hannover 96, Borussia Mönchengladbach, Arminia Bielefeld and St. Pauli, among others. He ended his career in 2016 at SV Meppen in the third division.
Numerous former teammates and Weggefährten expressed their condolences on Tuesday. "I am deeply shocked and saddened by the news of Andreas Biermann's death," said former national team manager Jürgen Klinsmann.
"Andreas was a great guy and a great footballer. My thoughts are with his family and friends," said former national team captain Michael Ballack.
Former HSV professional Marcell Jansen also mourned on Twitter: "I can't believe it. Rest in peace, Andi."
Biermann is survived by his wife and two children.
