FIA make changes in Mexico City: DRS zone reduced
New features in Formula 1 will be reduced for the Mexican Grand Prix
The FIA have announced that the DRS zone on the main straight at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez will be shortened for the 2023 Mexican Grand Prix. The DRS zone will now start 450 meters after Turn 10, instead of the previous 300 meters. This change was made in order to reduce the risk of accidents, as the previous DRS zone was located in a high-speed section of the track.
Other changes to the track
In addition to the changes to the DRS zone, the FIA have also announced a number of other changes to the track. These changes include:
- The gravel trap at Turn 1 has been widened to improve safety.
- The kerbs at Turn 7 have been raised to deter drivers from cutting the corner.
- The pit lane has been extended by 50 meters to accommodate more cars.
These changes are expected to make the track safer and more challenging for drivers.
