# Gaugisch: "That was an important step on our way"
## Gaugisch: "It was an important step on our way"
**Gaugisch's words on the final siren**
After the final whistle, Fortuna head coach Daniel Gaugisch analyzed the 1-0 win at Viktoria Köln with mixed feelings.
"The win is super important. You could see that the team wanted to win today. We played with a lot of passion and fought for every ball," said the satisfied coach. However, he also criticized: "In terms of play, however, it was a tough game overall. We didn't have many scoring chances. We were able to defend the 1-0 lead as a team, but we weren't really convincing in terms of football."
In the second half, Fortuna's game improved. "We reacted well at half-time and then played more concentrated. At the front we often lacked the necessary precision in the final pass, but we still had our chances. Unfortunately, we couldn't use them," explained Gaugisch, adding: "Nevertheless, the win is important for us. That was an important step on our way."
## Fortuna had a hard time getting into the game
**Schwabl: "We're still in the running"**
"You could tell in the first half that we didn't play together last week. We had a hard time getting into the game and made a few simple mistakes," said Gaugisch's captain Adam Bodzek.
Despite the weak performance, Bodzek praised the morale of the team: "We stuck together as a team and fought our way back into the game. Today, it was about fighting for the win together. The three points are worth their weight in gold."
## "We're still in the running"
**Third game without conceding a goal**
The clean sheet was also important for Gaugisch: "We haven't conceded a goal in three games now. That's a step in the right direction. We have a good base now, but we still have a lot of work to do."
Gaugisch demanded: "We need to continue on this path and continue to develop. We have to play more consistently and be more dangerous in attack. Then we can also play attractive football and win more games."
With the win in Cologne, Fortuna climbs the table to 16th place and is now within reach of the non-relegation places. Bodzek emphasized: "We're still in the running and want to stay in the league."
