Haaland Matches Ronaldo's Record As Manchester City Go Top
Manchester City striker Erling Haaland matched Cristiano Ronaldo's record of scoring in his first three Premier League games as the defending champions moved top of the table with a 3-0 win over Crystal Palace on Saturday.
The Norwegian striker, who joined City from Borussia Dortmund in the summer, opened the scoring in the 37th minute with a clinical finish from Kevin De Bruyne's cross. He then doubled the lead just before half-time with a header from a Phil Foden cross.
Haaland's goals moved him level with Ronaldo, who also scored in his first three Premier League games for Manchester United in 2003. Only Sergio Aguero (5) and Diego Costa (4) have scored more goals in their first three Premier League games.
City dominated the game from start to finish and could have won by a bigger margin. De Bruyne hit the post in the second half, while Haaland had a goal ruled out for offside.
