IB Nation Sports Talk: Marcus Freeman's Final Pre-Notre Dame/Navy Comments
Notre Dame Prepares for Navy
Marcus Freeman and his No. 19 Notre Dame Fighting Irish travel to take on Ken Niumatalolo and his Navy Midshipmen this weekend in what is sure to be a physical and emotional matchup. Coming off a big win against Boston College, the Irish look to improve to 9-2 on the season with a win over Navy.
Irish Look Ahead
Freeman addressed the media earlier this week and gave his thoughts on the upcoming matchup. Freeman said that he respects Navy's program and knows they will be a tough opponent. He also said that his team is focused and prepared for the challenge.
"Notre Dame Navy is a rivalry that has been going on for a long time. It's a game that our players and coaches always look forward to," Freeman said.
"We know that they are going to be a physical team and that they are going to challenge us in all three phases of the game," said Freeman.
"We going to do whatever it takes to win this game."
Navy's Tough Defense and Option Offense
Navy runs a triple-option offense, which can be difficult to defend against. Freeman said that his team has been working hard all week on preparing for Navy's offense. He also said that his defense is ready for the challenge.
"Our defense has been playing well all season," Freeman said. "We're going to need to play our best game of the year against Navy.
"We're going to need to be disciplined and we're going to need to tackle well. If we do those things, I think we'll be in a good position to win the game."
Freeman's Respect for Navy
Freeman said that he has a lot of respect for Navy and their program. He also said that he is expecting a tough game.
"Navy is a well-coached team. They're going to be prepared and they're going to be ready to play," Freeman said.
"We're going to have to be at our best to beat them," said Freeman.
"I'm confident that our team is ready for the challenge."
