Inter's Inzaghi talks up Juve's title hopes ahead of Derby d'Italia
Simone Inzaghi believes Juventus remain the team to beat in Serie A despite Inter Milan's impressive start to the season.
Inter lead the Serie A standings with 40 points from 18 games, four points ahead of second-placed Juventus, who have played one game less. However, Inzaghi insists that Juventus are still the favourites to win the title.
"Juventus are always the team to beat," Inzaghi said at a press conference on Friday. "They have a great squad and a lot of experience. It's going to be a great challenge for us to try and beat them."
Juventus have won the Serie A title for the past nine seasons, and they will be looking to extend their run to 10 when the season resumes after the winter break.
Inter, meanwhile, are looking to win their first Serie A title since 2011. They have made a strong start to the season, but Inzaghi knows that they will need to be at their best to overcome Juventus.
"We'll need to play a perfect game," Inzaghi said. "We know that Juventus are a very strong team, so we'll need to be focused and determined. We'll also need to make sure that we take our chances."
The Derby d'Italia is one of the most famous matches in Italian football, and it always attracts a lot of attention. Inzaghi knows that it will be a special occasion for Inter, and he is hoping that his team can put on a good show for the fans.
"It's a very important match for us," Inzaghi said. "We want to win for our fans and for ourselves. We know that it will be a difficult match, but we're confident that we can get the three points."
The Derby d'Italia will be played at the Allianz Stadium in Turin on Sunday, January 15.
