Joost Klein not at Eurovision - but the Netherlands will still participate
Klein stepped down as Head of Delegation for the Eurovision Song Contest
Another person will now lead the Dutch delegation during the 2023 Eurovision Song Contest.
Joost Klein will not lead the Dutch delegation to the 2023 Eurovision Song Contest. Klein, who has held the position since 2019, announced his resignation on social media on Wednesday. He said that he is stepping down to focus on other projects.
Klein's departure is a blow to the Dutch delegation, which has enjoyed success at Eurovision in recent years. Under Klein's leadership, the Netherlands won the contest in 2019 with Duncan Laurence's song "Arcade." The Netherlands also finished second in 2021 and fourth in 2022.
It is not yet known who will replace Klein as Head of Delegation. However, the Dutch broadcaster AVROTROS has said that it will announce a replacement in due course.
The 2023 Eurovision Song Contest will be held in Liverpool, UK, on May 13. The Netherlands will be represented by Mia Nicolai with the song "Chasing Highs." Nicolai was selected to represent the Netherlands after winning the Dutch national selection show, "The Voice of Holland."
