Juventus can send ‘strong signal’ by beating Inter, Vlahovic must ‘live for goals’ – Trezeguet
Trezeguet wants to see Juventus make a statement in the Serie A title race when they host rivals Inter on Sunday.
The Bianconeri are nine points behind league leaders Napoli and must close the gap if they are to stand any chance of winning a first Scudetto since 2020.
Standing in their way are Inter, who are also in contention for the title despite a dip in form since the World Cup break.
Trezeguet believes that a win for Juventus over their old foes would send a strong message to the rest of the league.
“It would be a strong signal,” the former Juventus striker told GOAL.
“It would mean that Juventus are back and that they are ready to fight for the title.”
Trezeguet also had some advice for Juventus’ new striker Dusan Vlahovic.
The Serbian has scored just one goal in his last six games for the Bianconeri.
“He needs to live for goals,” Trezeguet said.
“He needs to be in the right place at the right time and he needs to be clinical with his finishing.”
Juventus will be without a number of key players for the clash with Inter, including Paul Pogba, Weston McKennie and Leonardo Bonucci.
But Trezeguet believes that the Bianconeri have enough quality to overcome their absences.
“They have a good squad,” he said.
“They have players who can step up and make a difference.”
Juventus will be hoping to take a big step towards the title with a win over Inter on Sunday.
It would be a major statement of intent from the Bianconeri and would give them a huge boost in the race for the Scudetto.
