According to "Kurier", there are currently no plans for a new "Kommissar Rex" series. Instead, the focus is on a one-off special or film. This would allow the story to be told in a more concentrated and compact way.

The "Kurier" also reports that the original actors from the series are expected to be involved in the project. This would include Tobias Moretti as Chief Inspector Richard Moser and Gedeon Burkhard as Detective Sergeant Alexander Brandtner.
