Landry Shamet Traded to New York Knicks

Deal sends the 25-year-old guard to the Knicks for a future draft pick

Shamet has averaged 8.3 points and 2.5 assists per game this season

The New York Knicks have acquired guard Landry Shamet from the Phoenix Suns in exchange for a future draft pick, the teams announced Thursday.

Shamet, 25, is averaging 8.3 points and 2.5 assists per game this season. He has shot 40.7% from the field and 38.0% from three-point range.

The Knicks are hoping that Shamet can provide some much-needed shooting help. The team is currently ranked 29th in the NBA in three-point shooting percentage (34.1%).

Shamet is a career 39.1% three-point shooter. He has also shown the ability to create his own shot, which should help take some of the pressure off of Knicks All-Star Julius Randle.

The Suns are getting a future draft pick in the deal. The pick is reportedly protected for the first 10 spots in the 2024 NBA Draft.

The Suns are currently in first place in the Western Conference with a record of 40-19. They are looking to make a deep playoff run this season, and they believe that trading Shamet will help them achieve that goal.
