Marine Corps Marathon returns this weekend, bringing road closures
Runners and spectators should be aware of the following road closures in place for the Marine Corps Marathon on Sunday, October 23
The Marine Corps Marathon (MCM) is one of the largest marathons in the world, with over 30,000 runners participating each year. The race starts and finishes near the Marine Corps War Memorial in Arlington, Virginia, and the course winds through the streets of Arlington, Rosslyn, Georgetown, and downtown Washington, D.C.
Due to the large number of runners and spectators, several roads will be closed in the vicinity of the race course on Sunday, October 23. The following is a list of the road closures that will be in effect:
- Arlington Boulevard from I-66 to Memorial Bridge
- Memorial Bridge
- George Washington Parkway from Memorial Bridge to Spout Run Parkway
- Spout Run Parkway from George Washington Parkway to I-495
- I-495 (Capital Beltway) from Spout Run Parkway to Old Keene Mill Road
- Old Keene Mill Road from I-495 to Chain Bridge Road
- Chain Bridge Road from Old Keene Mill Road to Arlington Boulevard
In addition to the road closures, there will also be rolling road closures along the race course as the runners pass through. These rolling road closures will be in effect for approximately 30 minutes in each area.
Runners and spectators are advised to be aware of the road closures and to plan their travel accordingly.
