Upcoming news: Germany's Federal Ministry of Building is backing the "Bauen mit Holz" initiative
Federal Building Minister Klara Geywitz wants to simplify construction with wood
The Standing Conference of Building Ministers is to make the way clear for easier construction with wood
At the initiative of NRW Building Minister Ina Scharrenbach, the Standing Conference of Building Ministers has agreed on a resolution to simplify the use of wood in construction. This was announced by Scharrenbach in Düsseldorf. “We want to use wood as a sustainable building material even more often. With our resolution, we are creating the necessary conditions for this
That means: In future, wood will be able to be used more easily and quickly in construction - for example, in multi-story residential buildings. For this purpose, the existing model building regulations will be revised and a “Technical Guideline on Building with Wood” will be drawn up at federal level. This should provide more planning certainty and simplify approval procedures.
Scharrenbach explained: “Our goal is for wood to be used even more often and more easily in building construction in the future. Wood is a sustainable and climate-friendly building material that also has a positive impact on the living climate. Especially in the context of the necessary housing construction offensive, wood can make an important contribution.
The resolution of the Standing Conference of Building Ministers now provides the framework for this. The next step is to revise the model building regulations and draw up the technical guideline. The aim is for the new regulations to come into force in 2024
