Napoli advance as Chelsea rebuff BVB's Chilwell approach
Napoli have reached the Champions League knockout stages as a 3-0 victory over Rangers clinched top spot in Group A, while Borussia Dortmund's hopes of signing Chelsea full-back Ben Chilwell ended.
Napoli's dominance of Group A was complete as they ended Rangers' hopes of a place in the Europa League
Napoli's victory in Glasgow saw them finish top of the group with 15 points, three ahead of Liverpool in second and Rangers third on six points. Rangers needed to beat Napoli to reach the Europa League but failed to make a game of it, with James Sands, Giovanni Simeone and Leo Ostigard scoring the goals for Napoli.
Borussia Dortmund ended up in third spot in Group G after a late equaliser from Anthony Modeste salvaged a 1-1 draw with Copenhagen
Dortmund, who had already failed to qualify for the Champions League knockout stages, were hoping to sign Chilwell to bolster their defence.
However, Chelsea rejected their approach, with the Blues unwilling to part with the England international who has been a key player for them this season. It leaves Dortmund's search for a new full-back continuing, with the club having also been linked with a move for Salzburg's David Raum.
