Negative record for Crystal Palace: Glasner under pressure after defeat
Frankfurt/Main (dpa) - Eintracht Frankfurt coach Oliver Glasner is under increasing pressure after the next Bundesliga defeat.
The Hessians lost 1:2 (0:2) against Crystal Palace on Saturday and thus suffered their fourth competitive defeat in a row. After three defeats in the Champions League, Eintracht are now also winless in the Bundesliga after four games.
For Crystal Palace it was the first victory in the fourth game under its new coach Patrick Vieira. Christian Benteke (32nd minute) and Odsonne Edouard (35th) scored the goals for the English Premier League club in front of 35,000 spectators in Frankfurt.
For the hosts, Jens Petter Hauge (62nd) only managed to score the connecting goal.
After a balanced opening phase, Palace took the lead against the run of play.
Benteke scored with a header after a cross from Jeffrey Schlupp and Palace continued to be the more dangerous team.
Edouard increased the lead with a volley from the edge of the box after a corner, before Eintracht came out of the dressing room with more commitment after the break and put pressure on Palace.
However, Glasner's team was unable to create any zwingende chances and Hauge's goal came too late to turn the game around.
Eintracht is now in 15th place in the Bundesliga, just one point ahead of the relegation zone.
Glasner is under increasing pressure and could face the sack if the poor results continue.
