"I can't reveal everything yet," says comedy star Michael Niavarani in an interview.

In his first major role in a crime series, he plays the role of chief inspector Adi Merani in "Headscarf Mafia", which will be broadcast on ORF in 2023. Niavarani said in an interview with the APA on Tuesday: "We start shooting this summer."

No details about the plot of the ORF crime series have yet been released.

The series revolves around the murder of a patriarch in a Muslim family in Vienna's multicultural Brunnenmarkt district. "I can't reveal everything yet," said Niavarani. "But it's a really exciting story about family, guilt and secrets that you have to keep from your loved ones."

The shooting of the six-part series is scheduled to begin in June. Shooting locations are Vienna and Lower Austria. The screenplay was written by Erfolgsautoren-Duo Umut Dağ and Serkan Kaya ("4 Blocks") together with director Mirjam Unger ("Tatort", "Das finstere Tal"). The producers are epo-film and Mona Film.
