UVA Football, fans pitching in to assist Hurricane Helene relief efforts
UVA Athletics and the Charlottesville community are raising money for Hurricane Helene relief and recovery efforts to help those affected
On Monday, September 26, Hurricane Helene made landfall in South Carolina, bringing with it heavy rains and powerful winds.
In the wake of the storm, the University of Virginia Athletics Department and the Charlottesville community have come together to raise money for relief and recovery efforts.
Monetary donations
Members of the community are encouraged to contribute funds to the Hurricane Helene Relief Fund, which was established by the University of Virginia.
Donations can be made online or by mail. Checks should be made payable to the "Hurricane Helene Relief Fund" and mailed to the University of Virginia Athletics Department, P.O. Box 400817, Charlottesville, VA 22904.
Supply donations
In addition to monetary donations, the University of Virginia Athletics Department is also collecting supplies for those affected by Hurricane Helene.
Items that are needed include:
- Bottled water
- Non-perishable food items
- First-aid kits
- Batteries
- Flashlights
- Hygiene products
Donations can be dropped off at the Athletics Department offices in John Paul Jones Arena or at the Klöckner Stadium ticket office.
Volunteer opportunities
The University of Virginia Athletics Department is also organizing volunteer opportunities for students, faculty, and staff to help with relief efforts.

UVA Football to host "Pack the House" game for Hurricane Helene relief
UVA will donate $1 for every ticket sold to the "Pack the House" game against Georgia Tech on October 29 to the Hurricane Helene Relief Fund.
Fans are encouraged to buy tickets and wear orange to the game to show their support for those affected by the hurricane.
Tickets can be purchased online, by phone at (800) 542-UVA1, or at the Klöckner Stadium ticket office.
