Winning Ibrox memories inspire Alex Gogic as St Mirren aim to end Rangers hoodoo
St Mirren midfielder Alex Gogic is relishing the prospect of facing Rangers at Ibrox on Saturday, live on Sky Sports.
The Buddies have not won away to Rangers since 2010, but Gogic is hoping to draw inspiration from his previous victories at the famous stadium.
The Croatian played for Hibernian in the 2016 Scottish Cup final, which they won 3-2, and also scored the winning goal in a 2-1 victory over Rangers in the League Cup semi-final in 2018.
Gogic is hoping to add to his collection of Ibrox wins on Saturday, and he believes St Mirren have a good chance of causing an upset.
"I have good memories of playing at Ibrox," said Gogic. "I won the Scottish Cup there with Hibs and I also scored the winning goal in a League Cup semi-final there.
Gogic knows Rangers will be a tough opponent, but he is confident St Mirren can get a result.
"Rangers are a good team but we have a good team too," said Gogic. "We have a good chance of winning if we play to our potential. We are going there to win the game."
St Mirren manager Jim Goodwin is also confident his team can end their poor run at Ibrox.
"We know it will be a tough game, but we are confident we can get a result," said Goodwin. "We have a good team and we are playing well. We just need to make sure we are at our best on the day."
St Mirren will be without a number of key players for the trip to Ibrox, including captain Stephen McGinn and striker Lee Erwin.
However, Goodwin is confident his team can cope with the absentees.
"We have a good squad and we have players who can come in and do a job," said Goodwin.
