Sunderland continued their unbeaten run with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Oxford United at the Stadium of Light on Saturday afternoon.
The Black Cats took the lead in the 42nd minute when Aiden McGeady's cross was headed home by Luke O'Nien.
Oxford United pushed for an equaliser in the second half, but Sunderland goalkeeper Anthony Patterson made a number of impressive saves to keep his clean sheet intact.
The win moves Sunderland up to 12th in the League One table, while Oxford United remain in 14th.
Sunderland will be back in action on Tuesday night when they travel to Portsmouth, while Oxford United will host Cambridge United on the same night.
