Union Berlin Star Janik Haberer Extends Contract
German Midfielder Commits to Long-Term Future
Union Berlin have announced the contract extension of Janik Haberer, their star midfielder, until 2026.
The 30-year-old has been a key figure in Union's rise to prominence in recent seasons, playing a pivotal role in their qualification for the UEFA Europa League and their current challenge for a Champions League spot.
Haberer expressed his delight at extending his stay at the club, stating, "I'm very happy to continue playing for Union Berlin. I feel very comfortable here and can still develop. We have a great team and a great club, and I want to achieve more together with Union."
Union sporting director Oliver Ruhnert hailed Haberer's contribution to the club, emphasizing, "Janik is an important player for us. He's a leader on and off the pitch, and he always gives everything for the team. We're delighted to have him with us for the long term."
Haberer joined Union from Eintracht Frankfurt in 2021 and has since become a fan favorite. He has made 56 appearances for the club, scoring 10 goals and providing 12 assists.
The German midfielder has also been capped once by the German national team, making his debut in 2022.
With Haberer's contract extension, Union Berlin have secured the services of one of their most influential players for the foreseeable future. The club will now look to continue their impressive form in the Bundesliga and challenge for a place in next season's Champions League.
