DHB women beat Euro preliminary round opponent Netherlands
Strong performance in the first half
The DHB women have made a successful start to the European Championship. The team of national coach Markus Gaugisch defeated preliminary round opponent Netherlands 30:26 (16:11) in Skopje on Saturday afternoon.
The German team played a strong first half in particular and had a five-goal lead at the break. After the change of sides, the Dutchwomen came closer, but the DHB selection always managed to keep their opponents at a distance.
Goals from seven players
Seven different DHB players scored goals. Antje Lauenroth was the most successful thrower with six goals. Kim Naidzinavicius, Mieke Schulze and Alicia Stolle each contributed four goals. With this victory, the German team has taken a big step towards reaching the main round.
Outlook: Match against Romania on Monday
In the next preliminary round match, the DHB women will face Romania on Monday (8 p.m.). The Romanians lost their opening match against Hungary 29:35.
