A27 road closure: Diversion route in place as section of major route shut for more than eight hours

Emergency repairs to barriers force section of A27 to close

Drivers are facing delays in Hampshire after a section of the A27 was closed for emergency repairs.

The road is shut in both directions between the A3(M) junction and the B2177 junction near Havant.

National Highways said the closure is in place to allow for emergency repairs to safety barriers following a collision.

A diversion route is in operation via the A3(M) and the A3023.

National Highways said the road is expected to reopen by 7pm.

There are currently delays of around 30 minutes in the area, according to traffic monitoring system Inrix.

Drivers are advised to allow extra time for their journeys or to seek alternative routes.

The A27 is a major route in Hampshire, connecting Portsmouth and Southampton to the A3(M) and the M27.
