Wan-Bissaka: "It’s a time to pick ourselves up"
Manchester United full-back makes honest assessment after disappointing performance against Brighton
Manchester United full-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka has admitted that the team needs to "pick ourselves up" after a disappointing performance against Brighton & Hove Albion on Sunday.
The Red Devils were beaten 2-1 at the Amex Stadium, with Neal Maupay and Leandro Trossard scoring for the hosts. United pulled one back late on through Cristiano Ronaldo, but it was not enough to prevent a second defeat of the season.
"It's a tough one to take," Wan-Bissaka told the club's official website. "We didn't start the game well and we were punished for it. We need to be better from the off."
The England international also admitted that the team needs to improve its defending.
"We need to be more solid as a team," he said. "We're conceding too many goals and that's something we need to address."
Despite the setback, Wan-Bissaka is confident that the team can turn things around.
"We've got a lot of quality in this squad and we know we can be better," he said. "We need to stick together and work hard to improve."
Manchester United will be looking to bounce back when they host Brentford in the Premier League on Saturday.
