Wojciech Szczesny on Lack of Game Time at Barcelona
Former Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny has opened up about his frustration at his lack of playing time at Barcelona.
The Polish international joined the Catalan giants in 2014 but has been restricted to just 17 appearances in all competitions.
Speaking to Polish media outlet, Szczesny admitted that he is disappointed with his situation at Barcelona.
"I'm not happy with my situation at Barcelona," Szczesny said. "I want to play more, but I understand that the competition is very strong here."
Szczesny is behind Marc-Andre ter Stegen in the pecking order at Barcelona, and the German international has been in excellent form this season.
Szczesny has been linked with a move away from Barcelona in recent months, and he admitted that he is open to leaving the club if he can't get more playing time.
"I'm not going to rule out anything at the moment. I just want to play more regularly," Szczesny said.
Szczesny's comments come as Barcelona are preparing for a busy summer transfer window. The club is expected to sign a new goalkeeper, and Szczesny could be one of the players who leaves to make way for a new arrival.
Szczesny has been capped 45 times by Poland and was part of the team that reached the quarter-finals of the 2016 European Championship.
He joined Arsenal from Legia Warsaw in 2006 and made 181 appearances for the Gunners before moving to Roma in 2015.
Szczesny joined Barcelona on a free transfer in 2016, but he has struggled to establish himself as the club's number one goalkeeper.
